Mantra meditation, also known as Vedic meditation, involves the repetition of a Sanskrit word, phrase, or sound vibration. The term “mantra” comes from Sanskrit: “manas” (mind) and “tra” (tool), meaning “a tool for the mind.” Sound-based meditation is particularly effective in calming the nervous system and relieving stress. More recently, affirmations such as “I am worthy” or “I am abundant” have been popularized to help reframe negative thought patterns.
