Koya Webb is an international yoga teacher, holistic health coach, best selling author, transformational speaker, spiritual teacher and vegan activist whose core mission is to promote daily self-care, oneness, and eco-friendly living to combat some of the world’s biggest challenges including mental health, social injustices, and global warming.
As a former competitive track and field athlete training for the Olympics, Koya got introduced to yoga after a debilitating track injury derailed her career.
Recognizing the physical and mental benefits of yoga, she eventually shifted her focus to yoga, personal training, and life coaching to uplift and inspire her community — combining the work ethic of an athlete with practical holistic health practices Koya engages people of all abilities and walks of life to live a healthy, mindful and active lifestyle.
Today, Koya has over 17 years of holistic wellness studies. She is a registered 500hr yoga teacher, (with certifications in Ashtanga, Breathwork, Meditation, Stand Up Paddle Board, Acro Yoga, and Life Coaching), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certified for personal training, and graduated from The Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN).
Koya is the founder and CEO of Get Loved Up, an international wellness lifestyle community and Multidisciplinary Holistic Health and Yoga School that inspires mental, spiritual, and physical health, and the Get Loved Up podcast. She is also the author of LET YOUR FEARS MAKE YOU FIERCE: How to Turn Common Obstacles into Seeds for Growth (Hay House, 6/11/19), which encourages daily self-assessment and mindfulness, and reveals how to use fear as feedback, and the power of holistic health for transformation and growth.
Koya now resides in Marina Del Rey, California but was raised in a small country town outside of Memphis in Tennessee. With over a decade of experience teaching worldwide she considers the world her “home”.
Through mindful movement, meditation, and breathwork, this Vinyasa class is a fulfilling daily ritual. The stretchy sequence starts with Surya Namaskar A and Figure Four Chair then culminates in Warrior II, Warrior III, Extended Side Angle, Wide-Legged Forward Fold, and Side Lunge. Finish with light core work, Shoulderstand, Plow, and Savasana feeling a mind-body release.
This restorative class releases tension and unexpressed emotions that can remain stored in the hips and pelvic floor. Each restful pose is held for five minutes to help you relax deeply into your body. Begin by calming the mind with alternate nostril breathing, then a gentle stretch for the spine. Move through a variety of supportive and deeply therapeutic postures including, Fish, Forward Fold, and Pigeon Pose. Finish with a five-minute Savasana. Props Required: 2 bolsters, 2 blocks, 2 blankets.
Transform your traditional flow into a full-body sweat session by incorporating challenging upper and lower body strength movements, squats, jumps, and Chaturangas to fire up your entire body. Start by setting an intention for your practice then ignite energy with Breath of Fire and a Sun Salutation. Key movements include Malasana squat jumps, Plank elevators, Downdog push-ups, Crescent squats, and Bridge lifts.
