Listen to a story from the Mahabharata: Vyasa's encounter with the second widowed wife, Ambilika, produced a very pale baby named Pandu, who grew up to inherit the kingdom, and took two wives, Kunti and Madri. Due to an unfortunate curse, he was forced to restrain from sexual relations with either wife. Kunti's special mantra was able to invoke the gods Dharma, Vayu, and Indra, who fathered Yudhisthira, Bhima, and Arjuna respectively. The second wife, Madri, used the mantra to invoke the twin headed horse deity of sunrise and sunset, giving birth to twins, Sahadeva and Nakula.
