Position Overview 

We’re looking for a Lead Data Scientist to formulate Glo’s data strategy and work with our Data Engineer & Analyst to implement the appropriate architecture. In this role, you will be responsible for enabling data-driven decisions across Glo by sourcing accurate data, building scalable infrastructure, and delivering analytics with predictive modeling. You’ll lead the team to implement methods that improve data reliability and quality. You’ll play a pivotal role in contributing to Glo’s mission as you work to develop solutions that drive growth and improve the overall user experience on our platform.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide technical leadership in Data space.
  • Mentor junior data scientists, providing guidance on best practices.
  • Lead the effort to build, implement and support the data infrastructure.
  • Own majority of the deliverables for the Data team.
  • Develop and test architectures that enable data extraction and transformation for predictive and prescriptive modeling. 
  • Analyze and confirm the integrity of source data to be evaluated.
  • Lead the development of data-driven solutions by working with stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain predictive models supporting both product & data initiatives.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity in modeling by working with data engineers and analysts.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders through visualizations and presentations.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in data science to improve modeling capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data-driven solutions with business objectives.

Who You Are

  • You have a strong background in statistics, mathematics, and programming, and you have experience working with data in Python, R, SQL, or another statistical language.
  • You have knowledge of version control platforms such as Git and containerization tools such as Docker
  • You are a creative problem solver who is able to develop innovative approaches to complex data analysis challenges.
  • You have strong communication skills, allowing you to communicate clearly with a dispersed team across multiple channels and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • You have experience with data visualization tools and techniques, and you are able to communicate your findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • You are familiar with machine learning and data mining techniques, and you have experience building predictive models.
  • You have experience working with large datasets, and you are able to identify and address data quality and integrity issues.
  • You are able to work independently and work collaboratively in cross-functional teams to lead projects from ideation to implementation.
  • You have a growth mindset and are excited to continuously learn and stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field of data science.
  • You have proven experience mentoring junior data scientists and guiding best practices in modeling and analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data science, machine learning, and statistical modeling.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and SAS.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, MixPanel, Google Looker.
  • Strong understanding of statistical concepts and machine learning algorithms.
  • Knowledge of data engineering and data warehousing concepts, including RedShift, Redshift Spectrum, AWS Glue,  AWS Lambda. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building ML Models for new Product Features & Fraud.
  • Experience with Cloud based AI Platforms
  • Experience with Open Source Data Visualization tools.
  • Experience with Databricks, Reverse ETL.

Position Details

This is a full-time position, starting immediately. We are open to hiring candidates in CA, TX, FL, AR and MN. We are currently a growing team of about 50 people.
